Itinerary

Day 01 PYONGYANG D

PYONGYANG

Upon arrival, welcome by the local guide at Pyongyang airport and check-in at the hotel.

Note: Rooms are available from 2pm.

Enjoy a day at leisure in the capital then, in the evening, transfer for a delicious traditional dinner, a Korean barbecue.

Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 02 PYONGYANG–KAESONG B L D 164 Km (102 Miles)

After breakfast, the morning is dedicated to Pyongyang city.

Depart through the city’s subway a rare opportunity to share the Pyongyangese daily life. Get off at the station at Arc of Triumph for shopping in one of the state owned boutiques.

Then, depart for Mansudae Hill and its huge statues of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il before reaching Kim Il Sung Square. Visit Mansudae art studio exhibiting quality works: paintings, embroideries, ceramics, wood carvings, mosaics, sculptures, etc.

Finally visit the Grand Library protecting nearly 30 million of books.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon depart to Kaesong, once the capital of the Koryo Dynasty. Visit the authentic Royal tomb of King Kongmin and his wife dating from 14th century. This tomb rich of sculptures and covered with Granite also has a superb view of the surrounding hills.

Cooking demonstration in the evening, including preparation of rice cakes and kimchi.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in a traditional Korean house in Kaesong.

Note: The statues of Kim Il Sung President and Kim Jong Il Former Leader are not a tourist activity, therefore it is obligate to observe strictly the protocol when visiting. Inclinations, silence, respect and wreaths flowers are requested.

Day 03 KAESONG–PYONGYANG B L D 164 Km (102 Miles)

After breakfast, walk from the hotel through the city center of Kaesong towards the South Gate.

Then, depart to visit the DMZ where the armistice talks began. Visit Koryo History museum located within the walls of the very first university in Korea.

Also named the “Bamboo Wall”, DMZ is under highly secured area and is one of the last remains of the Cold War. Created on the 23rd of March 1953, this zone saw, for the first time within 50 years, a train crossing from South to North on the 17th of May 2007. Despite the intense situation, the atmosphere remains surprisingly relaxed.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, return to Pyongyang by road and check-in at hotel upon arrival.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.

Day 04 PYONGYANG–MYOHYANG B L D 146 Km (90 Miles)

MOUNT MYOHYANG

After breakfast, visit Kwangbop Buddhist Temple and Revolution Martyrs’ cemetery.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, depart by road (approximately 1h30) towards Myohyang, meaning "mysterious perfume mountain", a beautiful green area in the beautiful countryside of North of Korea.

Upon arrival, check-in at hotel and time at leisure.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight at Mount Myohyang.

Day 05 MYOHYANG–PYONGYANG B L D 146 Km (90 Miles)

After breakfast, visit the International Friendship Exhibition. It displays various gifts presented to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il by political, economic and military personalities, public worldwide.

Then visit Pohyon Buddhist temple, one of the five biggest of the country, and home of one of the rare Tripitaka Koreana copy. The Buddhist canon consists in more than 80,000 leaflets and whose printing plates, listed World Heritage Treasure, are at Haeinsa temple in South Korea.

Lunch is at local restaurant before heading back towards Pyongyang.

In the afternoon entertainment at Pyongyang’s circus. World renowned, this circus has repeatedly received the Golden Clown of Monte Carlo Festival. Very popular in the country, the circus offers a quality show illustrating Korean traditions.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 06 PYONGYANG–WONSAN B L D 207 Km (128 Miles)

After breakfast, depart early in the morning by road to Wonsan (approximately 4h30), port of the East Sea, the city is an important educational center since there are no less than 10 universities.

The road passes through the impressive Sinpyong valley and many tunnels built under the mountain. On the way, stop at a lookout to enjoy a panoramic view over the beautiful landscape.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

WONSAN

In the afternoon, resume the drive towards the south and check-in at hotel upon arrival.

Visit the railway station where one can see an old steam train. Depart for the visit of a cooperative farm, fundamental base to the agricultural economy of the country, which can include up to several hundred families.

The day ends by a stroll on the pier.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in Wonsan.

Day 07 WONSAN–MOUNT KUMGANG B L D 123 Km (76 Miles)

After breakfast, morning drive to the South along the coastline to reach Mount Kumgang, region dotted with ancient temples and waterfalls in a breathtaking landscape.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit the Buddhist temple built in the 7th century and located at the park’s entrance. The temple was once one of the most important Zen monasteries.

Then, short hike to reach Samil Lake located in a granite landscape with unusal shapes.

Check-in at hotel at the end of the day.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in Mounts Kumgang.

Day 08 MOUNT KUMGANG B L D

After breakfast, the day is dedicated to a walk to explore Mounts Kumgang.

While walking the path crosses gorgeous lush and beautiful landscapes. The rumor goes that anyone with a pure heart will have the chance to see the animals leaving in the region.

Stop at the nine-dragon waterfall before climbing about 300 meters to the basins of eight tales and their superb panorama.

Lunch is during the excursion. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and time at leisure.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in Mounts Kumgang.

Day 09 MOUNTS KUMGANG–PYONGYANG B L D 329 Km (204 Miles)

MOUNTS KUMGANG

After breakfast, depart by road towards Pyongyang. On the way, stop for the visit of Tongmyong tomb, a stone mound where King Jumong remains since his death in the around 2nd century BC, the king was the founder of Koguryo Kingdom. Listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, the site also includes vassals’ tombs and Jongrun Buddhist temple.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

Arrival late afternoon and check-in at hotel.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant.
Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 10 PYONGYANG B

After breakfast, time is at leisure at the hotel.

Note: Rooms shall be released by 12pm (noon).

Depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the airport for the departure the flight.
