THE COASTAL ROAD FROM WONSAN TO HAMHUNG
(NKMOD-03) 3 Days / 2 Nights – From Wonsan

Itinerary

Day 01 WONSAN–HAMHUNG L D 116 Km (72 Miles)

In the morning, discover Wonsan. The Port of the East Sea, this city is an important educational centre with no less than 10 universities.

Visit the old railway station from which Kim Il Sung travelled to reach the capital after the liberation in 1945. Here everything is vintage: the counters, schedules and the prices! In the second building, the museum houses the locomotive and wagon that served to transport him.

By the late morning, stop at the nice sandy beach of Songdowon in the North-west of the city.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, drive towards the second most inhabited city of the country: Hamhung (approximately 2 hours). Upon arrival, enjoy a short city tour to overview the development of this rebuilt city after the war in 1953.

Check-in at the hotel.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant. Overnight in Haeju.

Day 02 HAMHUNG B L D

After breakfast, the day is dedicated to the exploration of this industrial town. Its geographical location makes it one of the crossroads of transportation among the largest in the country.

First stop at the statue of Kim Il Sung, a major landmark in the city. Then visit the History Museum and the Grand Theatre, the largest in North Korea. The morning ends by a visit to Ryi Song Gye’s home, the founder of the Choson Dynasty in the 14th century.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, stroll in the outskirts of the city and visit a fertilizer factory; an opportunity to understand the manufacturing process of ammonia. Finally, visit a cooperative farm, a fundamental part of the agricultural economy of the country which comprises up to several hundreds of families.

Dinner at a local restaurant or at the hotel. Overnight in Hamhung.

Day 03 HAMHUNG B

After breakfast, drive back to the capital (approximately 4h30) or continue towards another destination.

  • Accommodation in a shared double or twin room at selected hotels.
  • Transfer by a private air-conditioned vehicle as per the program.
  • English speaking guide except during time at leisure and his assistant.
  • Entry fees for all sightseeing tours as mentioned on the program.
