THE WEST COAST
(NKMOD-02) 5 days / 4 nights – From Kaesong

Itinerary

Day 01 KAESONG–HAEJU L D 96 Km (69 Miles)

In the morning, walk from the hotel through the city center of Kaesong towards the South Gate.

Then, depart to visit the DMZ where the armistice talks began. Visit Koryo History museum located within the walls of the very first university in Korea.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit the authentic Royal tomb of King Kongmin and his wife dating from 14th century. This tomb rich of sculptures and covered with Granite also has a superb view of the surrounding hills.

Then depart by road to depart towards the South to reach the city of Haeju, facing the Yellow Sea and hometown of two important figures who fought for Korea’s Independence.

On arrival, visit Buyong pavilion, built in 1500 and the biggest of the country.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant. Overnight in Haeju.

Day 02 HAEJU–SARIWON B L D 74 Km (46 Miles)

After breakfast, visit Taehungsan fortress built under Koryo dynasty over a 120-meter waterfall. Excursion in Sokdam’s ravines where one can see historical remains such as Sohyon School dated 16th century or tombstones. Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, depart for an excursion to Sinchon village. Visit American war crimes museum. Later on, drive to Sariwon (approximately 1h30). On arrival, visit the Folk Village, built as a traditional Korean village.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant. Overnight in Sariwon.

Day 03 SARIWON–NAMPO B L D 111 Km (69 Miles)

After breakfast, drive towards Nampo, main port and major industrial center of North Korea. Upon arrival, visit Nampo city, modern port city at the mouth of the Taedong River. Depart for an excursion to the impressive dam on the Yellow Sea extending over a length of 8 km.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, explore Mount Kuwol, one of the five most venerated mountains in Korea. Finally, visit Woljong Buddhist temple built in 846 on the slopes of Mount Asa during Koguryo dynasty.

Check-in at hotel by the end of the day.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant. Overnight in Nampo.

Day 04 NAMPO–PYONGYANG B L D 57 Km (35 Miles)

NAMPO

After breakfast, visit the Chollima steel factory where the steel is made according to the principles of Juche, the Korean way of Marxism-Leninism doctrine developed by Kim Il Sung.

Lunch is at local restaurant.

In the afternoon drive back to Pyongyang (approximately 1h). On the way, stop and visit Chonsamri cooperative farm, fundamental base to the agricultural economy of the country, which can include up to several hundred families.

Entertainment on arrival at Pyongyang’s circus. World renowned, this circus has repeatedly received the Golden Clown of Monte Carlo Festival. Very popular in the country, the circus offers a quality show illustrating Korean traditions.

Dinner is at hotel or local restaurant. Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 05 PYONGYANG B

After breakfast, depart for the next destination.

End of our services.

  • English speaking guide except during time at leisure and his assistant.
  • Entry fees for all sightseeing tours as mentioned on the program.
