COEX convention and exhibition centre is located in the World Trade Centre Complex Seoul. Built in 1988, the centre was expanded and reopened in 2000 to include 225,000sqm of convention space over eight levels including four underground for parking. It features an Auditorium that can seat 1,070 theatre-style, a Convention Hall capable of holding 7,000 people at once, a Grand Ballroom which can hold 1,800 people and divide into five smaller rooms, a Conference Centre composed of 30 smaller meeting rooms, and four further event & exhibition halls offering between 1,639 to 10,368 sqm of space.
There’s also the specially designed ASEM Hall, with 80 seats in a circular configuration, named for the Asia Europe Summit Meeting held there in 2000. Since then COEX has built up its international meetings to 36 this year, making it number two in the Asia region behind Singapore and being the 8th out of all the cities in the World. Among the thousands of events held there each year, 50 international exhibitions are organized by in-house professional exhibition organizers and many other congress are organized by in-house professional convention organizer.
COEX is gearing up for some huge conventions in the next few years with the Junior Chambers of International(JCI) this June with 10,000 delegates and the Rotary International Convention in 2009 with 50,000 delegates and many more.
